This week I had the pleasure of returning to my secondary school, 13 years after leaving Sixth Form in 2012. Instead of sitting in the classroom, I walked back through those familiar doors as an employee of Levy & Co Solicitors, there to speak with students about careers in law and the important work we do in criminal defence.
It was a genuinely a fantastic day. The students were enthusiastic, curious and incredibly engaging throughout. Their questions ranged from what it is like representing clients in court, to how to get training contracts, to what a realistic day looks like for someone working in criminal defence. It was encouraging to see so many young people interested not only in the legal profession, but also in the role criminal defence plays in ensuring fairness and justice.
I was joined by my colleague Muna, one of our firm’s trainee solicitors, who offered the students a more relatable perspective on entering the profession today. Hearing about her own recent journey into law really helped bridge the gap between aspiration and reality for the students.
We are extremely grateful to Anglo European School for welcoming us back and giving us the opportunity to showcase the work we do. Visiting the place where my own journey began, and hopefully helping to inspire the next generation, was both nostalgic and rewarding.
We look forward to continuing our work with local schools and supporting young people who may be considering a future in law.
