Peter Young

Solicitor, Crime Department

Peter Young , who qualified as a Solicitor in 1977, has been in the law since 1967 when he joined a firm in Ipswich. Having completed his Articles (forerunner of Training Contracts) he qualified as a Solicitor in July 1977.

During his time in Ipswich he had an emphasis on crime. After qualifying he joined a firm in Braintree dealing with litigation generally but building up a thriving family and criminal practice.

An opportunity to join a firm in Colchester followed and he became Partner in 1984. There he built up and expanded on embryo family and criminal practice continuing until the firm merged in 2007 when he concentrated on crime.

When an opportunity arose to join Levy & Co as a part time consultant, Peter agreed and came to Witham and Braintree (again!).

Peter had acted as the informal duty solicitor when he was first at Braintree and has been a Duty Solicitor in Colchester since its inception in the early 1980s.

He regularly attends police stations, Magistrate and Youth Courts throughout Essex and in Suffolk. Peter has an established caseload of regular Clients who instruct him in respect of minor and high profile crime and associated Proceeds of Crime proceedings.

Peter is very approachable and has been told he has a calming influence on vulnerable, upset or emotional clients especially.

He brings his considerable experience to the firm and has become an important member of the team.
